My (very fun) experience with thredUP
It’s no secret that I don’t splurge on myself. It’s also no secret that when it comes to clothes and fashion, I take the easy way out and wear yoga pants or sweats with a t-shirt. I had seen ads for thredUP on Facebook, but I generally scrolled on past. I’m not sure what finally caught my attention, but I clicked and signed up — and the rest is history.
My first favorite thing about thredUP is the general idea: consigning high quality products. I love shopping consigned (especially for my ever-changing kids), and I love that with thredUP, I can find really nice clothing for the kids and for me.
On my first shopping spree, I spotted several dresses that were too cute to pass up. My goal was to find dresses that would come to about knee length and serve as tunics for these nifty leggings I’ve begun to wear. One of the dresses was from Ann Taylor LOFT. I know Ann Taylor LOFT to be a great quality company, so I was super pumped that this dress was at such an amazing price.
While I don’t often find time or occasion to dress up, there’s still church on Sundays. I was feeling like I never had anything to wear and just kept on with the same outfits recycled from week to week.
With thredUP, I found affordable and fashionable items. I’ll definitely be back!
Also with thredUP, you can send in your own items to consign. You simply order a CleanOut bag, pack it up, and send it in. They will go through all of your items, determine which they can sell, and then either pay you up front or put into the consignment mix. You have the option to donate whatever items don’t make the cut or to have them sent back. (Sending them back will cost you another small fee.)
In all, thredUP has won my heart. Most likely, I’ll keep to purchasing from the site because I love that I’m helping the environment by consigning and not spending money on brand new items.
