Thankful: So many blessings

Thankful: So many blessings

Every year in November, I try to post on Facebook a daily expression of my thankfulness. This year, I’ve decided to go one step further and blog daily with these thankful posts. Considering how overwhelmed I’ve been lately, I thought this series would do one of two things. First, it would force me to write every day which is a source of therapy for me. Secondly, it would help me focus on all the wonderful things and people I have in my life.

Day 1: So many blessings

When Math Man and I got married, it was one of the happiest days of my life. I was in no way nervous about any portion of the day — except maybe that Miss Sassy Pants (4 at the time) would have a meltdown. She didn’t. She was fabulous. The whole day was beautiful. Math Man stepped on my dress and almost made me fall down, we almost knocked over the unity sand display, we forgot to tell people what page the hymns were on, and we forgot cake plates for the reception. But otherwise, I couldn’t have asked for a better day. We partied hearty at our reception and my only wish is that Math Man and I had danced moreย together. Instead, he worked the social aspect of the night, and I kept everyone on the dance floor.

4thanniversary

Not too much longer, and we decided to begin our procreation madness. Almost 7 years later, and we’ve added three new people to our family.

I’m so very, very tired. And maybe just a little stressed. And my house is a wreck. But we have more fun in one day than I’ve ever had in my life.

Miss Sassy Pants is a tween, so we deal with a little attitude here and there…but her Jimmy Fallon “Ew” impressions? They leave me in stitches. I always thought that when I had a ten year old, I’d be old. She actually just keeps me relevant and young. She’s outstanding.

The Animal has brought video games back into our lives. Years ago, I begged Math Man to buy me Super Mario for the Wii. I played it a few times and then life just got in the way. The Animal now schools us in it and drives his dad bonkers. It makes me smile so big that my cheeks hurt.

Flash is our little precocious one. He knows how to “jack with” us, and he does it well. Just today, he kept saying, “huh” until we almost pulled our hair out — and then he grinned. I often compare him to the nursery rhyme about the little girl with the curl? It says, “And when she was good, she was very, very good. And when she was bad, she was horrid.” That’s our Flash. He’ll dazzle you with his adorable face and then make you feel insane in less than a minute.

Baby Diva is just now coming into a little bit of a personality. We aren’t sure what she’ll be like. But we can tell she likes to play, snuggle, and laugh. And she’s patient. Extremely patient. Good thing since her brothers are most likely going to push her buttons as she continues to grow.

I am blessed to be able to work from home so that I can be with my kids. I’m here if they need me. I’m here if they get sick.

I’m blessed to have been granted the crazy ability to multi-task. A few tabs open on my desktop, kids eating lunch, laundry in the machines, and dinner in the crockpot? No problem.

Tell me about your family and all that you have to be thankful for. (Sorry for ending in a preposition!)

  1. OMG, I love this idea of blogging about what you’re thankful for 30 days straight. Please tell Math Man I said hello! I still have to meet your army of minions. *sigh* Love you bunches! :* Day 1: I’m thankful for the amazing English/Journalism high school teacher I had – she has been extremely influential in my career choice! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Can I be thankful for how awesome our Halloween was?? It just turned out so well and I’m realizing it is probably close to the end of full family Halloween with a 12 year old in the mix. I’m glad we got to do this this year.

    1. You can be thankful for anything you want! And yes, Halloween with a 12 year old means an end to an era very soon. Hopefully she’ll still play along!
