Summer

** Beware: This blog post has no actual goal or basic main idea! **

This is a very different sort of summer. So much is changing and building and morphing.

Today, A and I have started our “summer writing.” She is so excited about doing this because I bought her a new writing notebook and because it’s something the two of us can just do together.

Right now, we’re fitting it in while J decides to sleep…in between what I was going to call a nap for myself and the next explosion of J!

It seems like I never just give myself a summer. Ever since I started teaching, I’ve filled my summers to the brim. School, cross-country trips, work, school, or whatever. Of course, at this point, we NEED me to keep working – can’t afford it otherwise. And of course, this summer is filled with good-smelling baby and exhaustion. A is so awesome, however, that for the most part, she functions on her own without too much argument.

Maybe we’ll reach our goal soon, and Aaron and I can both take a summer to just be us – with the kids and in order to have some vacations. Wouldn’t it be lovely to own a mountain home? Ahhh, just the thought of escaping to the mountains to silence.

The list of wishes goes on and on – so I remind myself right now that big wishes of mine have come true: beautiful daughter, precious baby boy, the man of my dreams, a house, no “full-time” job, and the soon-to-be-ability to bake cakes as I desire!
