Rainbow Bandz (Review)
When I was a kid, I was making friendship bracelets out of my mother’s cross stitch thread. I was a master at it, too. I could whip out a few bracelets in no time. I tried to show Miss Sassy Pants how to make her own by using a safety pin and her jeans. She was not too interested.
Then, the whole rubber band bracelet fad happened, and she’s begging me for her own loom. She was coming home from school with bracelet after bracelet. Enter the Rainbow Bandz.
We received our Rainbow Bandz box, and Miss Sassy Pants was eager to teach me. She actually knew how to create a bracelet without a loom, but I needed her to show me with the loom. Her patience was stretched pretty thin as I struggled to understand the patterns.
I got to the end of the row and turned it around to work on going the opposite way. When it was time to use the looming tool, I struggled even more. Miss Sassy Pants calmly said, “Mom…” (maybe it was more exasperated than calm) and took the tool from me to show me.
In the end, I’d made a pretty colorful basic Rainbow Bandz bracelet. You can see that Miss Sassy Pants got a little more creative and made me a fishtail pattern in my favorite colors.
If you’re interested in Rainbow Bandz, you can order them right on Amazon. They come with:
– 1 Super durable loom
– 1 Hook with base opener
– 600 silicone latex free rubber bands
– 24 S-clips
I will also admit defeat to my friend Megan who challenged me to make some more difficult patterns. I took some time to sit down with the loom and the instructions to try a different pattern. I followed the directions but ended up with a pile of rubber bands that looked like, well, a pile of rubber bands.
So, Megan, you were right. These things can be difficult. One thing is for certain, though. Miss Sassy Pants will most likely be running circles around me making these rubber band bracelets. It’s ok. I’ll just pull out my old safety pin and thread and go old school.
What is your favorite type of bracelet to make?
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
