Pre-School at Home: Weekly Activities in your Inbox!

School is starting up very soon. Aaron will go back to his classroom to spread the wealth of Calculus and Pre-Calculus to high schoolers. Miss Sassy Pants will begin third grade (how did that happen!?). The Animal, Flash, and I will be here at home.

It dawned on me that I would have the perfect opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with the Animal while Flash naps in the morning. Since he already shows a very strong love for numbers and letters, I thought it would be smart to have some structured time with him.

So, I have planned out the school year — all the days that Aaron and Miss Sassy Pants will be in school — with specific themes so that the Animal and I can have a sort of pre-school at home.

We are going to start with the theme of School Bus. Then, for Labor Day week, we’ll talk about the flag. After that, we’ll begin to move through the alphabet. Each week will be a different letter of the alphabet that includes a theme.

For instance, the week we study the letter A, we’ll talk about astronauts and the solar system.

Want to play along? You can receive what I create in your mailbox each week. I’ll be sending the plan to those who sign up on every Saturday prior to the Monday that starts the week.

Each week will include arts and crafts, music, math (numbers, counting, shapes), and more. Hope you’ll play along!

UPDATED 2015: This list is no longer available. I will be linking lessons here!

I am a high school English teacher and have a Master’s in English Education. While I have no formal training in pre-school curriculum, I do have plenty of training and experience in building curriculum. I will use my experience as a mother to build these activities. I do not claim to be aligned with any type of federal or state pre-school curriculum. Resources that I have not created myself will be duly cited.
