Mamavation Tuesday – What a week it's been!

You can probably tell that since this is titled, “Mamavation Tuesday,” that there has been just a bit going on.

If you read my blog regularly, you know that we were excited to find out that our little Spawn is a boy. The day after our ultrasound, we got a call about his having only ONE umbilical artery. We have since found out that this isn’t cause for much alarm, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t freak. In the words of the specialist we saw yesterday, “No parent want’s to hear the words: ‘We saw something.'”

So, Aaron and I spent Thursday through Monday morning reading articles on Google, talking to friends and family, and praying our brains out that our Spawn would be fine (and part of the percentage of babies who have no further issues) or that God would simply give us peace with whatever we did learn.

Happily, the specialist saw that our baby boy is pretty much awesome. He does only have the one umbilical artery, but that’s the only anomaly they could see. We’ll still go back in a few weeks for an ECHO on the baby’s heart (since right now it’s only the size of a dime) to be double certain. But, the doctor had no reason for alarm and said everything looked great. (I was even commended for having huge babies who go past term and *reassured* that this baby would most likely do the same.)

Baby also decided to show off a lot, and we have discovered that we have a bit of an exhibitionist. Thus, his name has changed now from “Spawn” to “Flash.” 🙂

Where does all this leave me on my health journey? Here’s what happened last week:

  • After our initial ultrasound, and for celebration purposes, we went to Wendy’s. I did get some fries. I enjoyed them. I regretted it later when my stomach hurt.
  • We ate out Friday and Saturday, and I did my best to be good, but I didn’t make sure the water was flowing freely. So, I regretted those decisions ultimately as well.
  • I walked a bunch on Saturday and on Monday before the level 2 ultrasound. It has been beautiful here, so I’ll be walking as much as I can before Old Man Winter shows back up.
  • We went out last night after finding out that Flash is ok. I didn’t make the wisest of choices.
  • I haven’t been eating well since the call from the doctor that something might be wrong. I’ve been better since finding out.

That’s it! Nottoobad and not anything I can’t recover from.

How’d your week go? I’d love to hear from you.
