Mamavation Monday: Thanksgiving Week!

Mamavation Monday: Thanksgiving Week!

Everyone keeps saying, “I can’t believe Thanksgiving is already here!” I agree, it came (seemingly) quickly, but I’m so ready for the holidays to begin. I’ve been resisting Christmas music and have even huffed and puffed at the stores that seemed to skip right over Turkey Day. But you can bet that Friday morning, I will be jamming to “Jingle Bell Rock” and starting to get out my decorations.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because it seems much more relaxed — and food is involved. This year, Aaron will be smoking the turkey, and Miss Sassy Pants and I will be making some turkey cupcakes.

One of the things I’m most thankful for this particular Thanksgiving is that Miss Sassy Pants has the opportunity to spend most of the day with us. Her father has to work until evening, so instead of leaving me around 3, she gets to hang out until around 6. I haven’t spent a full Thanksgiving with her since her very first, so this is quite the treat.

I’ll be sharing plenty of other reasons why I’m thankful later in the week, but for now, I’ll share my successes for the week:

  • I haven’t gained any weight, still. It looks like maybe I’ve lost a pound? At 17 weeks pregnant, I’m feeling pretty successful here. I was a bit overweight to start, so I’m “redistributing” I guess. I did walk almost non-stop on Saturday when Miss Sassy Pants and I attended a Girl Scout event at the local Transportation Museum.
  • I still haven’t had any soda. That doesn’t mean that I’m not jonesing for it. This is hard. I want a root beer in such a bad way!
  • I stayed away from fast food this week. Mom and I went to a local BBQ joint, but I got a simple burger and baked beans (which I didn’t eat) with a water.
  • My brilliant husband has earned his National Board Certification. This coupled with a negative result on our AFP test for Spawn and an appraisal coming back high enough on our house so we can do a refinance has — so far — made this the best week EV-AH!

What has gone well for you this past week?
