Karibu Potty Seat: Review
It seems when you’re a parent, everything revolves around potty time – whether it’s diapers or potty training or making sure kids eat well enough to “stay regular.”
We are at the fun stage with the Animal where he is curious about the potty and starting to have more and more success and interest in using the potty. He is noticing that it’s gross if his pants are dirty, and he often prompts us to change him.
We’ve used potty seats that just sit on the toilet — I’m not keen on the potty seats that sit on the floor and demand that I clean it out afterward. I like having seats on the potty so that kids learn where they are to go and aren’t afraid to be up “high.” The only problem with most potty seats is that they don’t have a stool to help kids with getting to the potty or getting down from the potty.
The Karibu Potty Seat has solved this problem for us! When the box arrived, the Animal was very excited to check it out. In fact, he wouldn’t leave me alone as I read directions for putting it together and then started putting sections together.
We took it into the bathroom and set it up on the toilet. He watched as I fixed the height so it would reach the floor, stay sturdy, and sit correctly on the toilet seat. I helped him up for the first time, and the look of pride on his face was picture-perfect.
The box to the potty seat stayed in the living room for the remainder of the day. When Aaron got home from work, the Animal was ready to show him his new gadget. We hurried to the bathroom, and he successfully went potty.
Since that day, going potty has been a fun adventure for him. Instead of resisting when I ask if he’d like to go, he happily tells me, “OKAY!” and we run.
Not only are there steps to help get up to the potty, but there are handles. I believe this is really helping the Animal feel safe and is giving him one more way to be in control of the entire experience.
