Jeremy Camp’s “The Answer”

Jeremy Camp’s “The Answer”

Music is often what guides me. Day to day, a song will pop into my head, and I’ll sing it either to myself or aloud to my family. Many times, the songs that enter my mind don’t make much sense. I’ll try to think back to the day’s events to determine where and when the song would have applied. Usually, I can’t trace the origin of thought that brought me to that particular tune. That’s why when I have a chance to listen to new music and add to my repertoire of song choices, I jump at the opportunity. Jeremy Camp’s new album, “The Answer,” is quickly becoming a new favorite for me.

The first thing that hit me about Camp’s new album was his name and notoriety for me. I was excited to actually know who he was and recognize his voice in the music. He has a strong, deep voice that appeals to me and my sense of musicality.

But it’s the title song of the album that is speaking to me most these days. “The Answer” is literally a response to all the questions, strife, frustration and problems we face day to day. In this very mixed up and sad time in our nation and world, “The Answer” fills the gap nicely with a Promise: no matter what, Jesus will be there to carry the weight and the burden.

Other songs on the album have been resonating with me as well. Perhaps my absolute favorite is “Word of Life,” which I recognize from the radio. It has an awesome beat and exciting words to remind me that there are enemies but there is absolutely a different way to view the world and Someone to whom we can turn when we are afraid.
