J: Joking Aside #AtoZChallenge

I pride myself on my sense of humor. Weird for some. Right on target for others. I love to laugh, and I love to make others laugh.

But sometimes, I get really annoyed. So much so that I might say a not-so-sweet word or two and lose that trademark smile of mine.

I thought I’d let you all in on some little secrets about me that illustrate that I’m not always smiling and laughing:

  1. I hate being splashed. Even in the bath. Even in a pool. It all stems from wearing contacts and feeling blind without them. I’m always afraid something is going to cause one to fall out, and then I’d be stuck not seeing. While this may seem silly, the rage that I feel when splashed is pretty embarrassing. But please, don’t splash me.
  2. Crickets freak me out. Simple little creatures that can’t do much of anything to me, but I hate them. With a passion. I’m almost certain that I get the creepy crawlies around them because my oldest brother thought it was funny to tease me and tell me they were in my bed.
  3. Speaking of my bed, I better not find shoes there. In fact, last night, Math Man tried to show me his new shoes by laying them on the bed next to where I was standing. I threw them across the room in a knee-jerk reaction. Shoes are gross, and I surely don’t want that gross on the spot where I sleep.
  4. People should move up in the carline. I don’t understand why people leave two and three car lengths between themselves and the car in front of them during car line. I’m out here in the road waiting to turn in, and all I can think is that the guy behind me needs to get to work but is waiting on these people to move up so I can get out of his way. Poor Sassy Pants hears me yell, almost daily, “Move up!”
  5. Please don’t lie to me. I cannot stand a lie. I understand lies of omission for birthdays, Christmas, presents (and I love presents), but please don’t lie to me otherwise. Then, I lose my trust for you. And as one of my friends used to always say to me, “It’ll all come out in the wash,” and then I’ll just have to get angry again.
  6. For the love, be on time. If we have established a time for something to happen, let’s make it happen. I understand that sometimes, emergencies or life crop up. So text. Or call. Or something. But to just be late? Or to just not start on time? Now that really grinds my gears.

I’m sure I could sit and think of plenty more situations that get me steaming. I’ll save those for another post.

I’m participating in the AtoZ Challenge. Check it out!
