Interview with The Insomniac's Dream
For the second year in a row, I auditioned for Blogger Idol. For the second year in a row, I didn’t make it. I’m not bitter.
The writer in me longs for the challenge of writing prompts, so as I can fit it in, I’ve been playing along with the Play At Home options this season.
This week’s prompt was to find another blogger who had been playing along and interview them.
Last year, the interview portion of the game was how I met Lorinda from The Rowdy Baker (who, by the way, is currently in the Top 10 of this year’s Blogger Idol!!). Since that interview, Lorinda has been a great friend both in the blogosphere and via Facebook. She always has something sweet to say about my babies.
When it came time to find a partner for this year, I put on my big girl pants and asked Starr from The Insomniac’s Dream to be my friend. She accepted, and the rest is Blogger Idol bloggy friend history. Check out her answers, and make sure to give her a visit to see my answers!
Superpowers: If you could have one, what would it be? Why?
The ability to stop time. Imagine. I could pause time, write all my deadlines out, clean the house, get the groceries, and start it up again. This would come in handy when I’m struggling with insomnia, too. I could just pause time, get things done, and when I’m finally tired start it up again and go to bed. This way, I would be able to sleep at night like the rest of you normal people instead of during the day time. The hours I spend awake wouldn’t actual pass into the morning.
What area of your life is the biggest “time suck?” Where do you find yourself falling down rabbit holes most?
Facebook is a bad one for me. Hours and hours can pass while I’m on there. In my defense, though, I don’t waste all my time perusing through the status updates, mine is spent in groups and on private messaging chatting away with friends.
At this point in your life, what song best describes you? Explain.
Cher. You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me.
I am a lot stronger than I give myself credit for. In the face of all of life’s challenges and the tragedies it has thrown in my face, this song is my mantra.
What would we find in your refrigerator RIGHT NOW?
Evidence of a lazy busy Mommy. I am in desperate need of a grocery store trip, but I keep putting it off or running out of time because of deadlines I have to meet. There may be some Coke Zero and a few makings for sandwiches.
Tell me what makes you angry.
Assholes. You know who you are and there is no explanation necessary for you.
What’s your biggest time waster?
Bubblews is a big time sucker for me, too. I’ll write an article, post it, think to myself, “I’ll just check a few notifications”, and before I know it, several hours have passed. The great news is that, unlike FB, my time spent on here is making money. So I can feel justified in those few hours that I made a couple bucks.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Romance novels. Not those cheesy dime store bodice rippers. (Although when I was younger, I could read one a day). We’re talking novels by Nora Roberts, Danielle Steele, and the graphically erotic Anita Blake novels. . . . And if we’re going to delve way down into my guilt. . . Nicolas Sparks.
What’s in your purse?
This is best explained with a photo.
Describe your life with the title of a TV show
American Horror Story
What food is your weakness?
Chips and dip. Whether we’re talking tortilla chips and salsa or guacamole, or potato chips with a good french onion dip. I can eat an entire bag and the whole container of dip in a single bound.
Starr Bryson works from her home in Arizona as a freelance writer. She’s raising two fantastically funny and disgusting boys. I would *love* the ability to stop time!! I would totally abuse that super power!
I would too, you’re not alone.
Awesome interview. And I’m totally with you on the *ahem* crisps and dip.
Lizzie, if you and I ever manage to get together in real life, this world is in trouble.
Also? Stop pushing your English on me! :P_
