Farewell, Fatigue {A Review}

Farewell, Fatigue {A Review}

It’s sort of a running joke with Aaron that all I ever do is yawn. As soon as we sit down in church? Yawn. Sit down to watch a movie? Yawn.

I don’t necessarily feel tired, but the yawning speaks otherwise. Doesn’t hurt that I’m still waking up in the middle of the night to a nursing baby or that every child in this house thinks 6:30 am is the required wake time on every day of the week.

So, how can we battle the fatigue? And what if it’s more than just simply being tired because of a lack of sleep time?

That’s where Mary Ellen Bream’s new book, Farewell, Fatigue, can come in.

In Farewell, Fatigue, Bream discusses her personal battle with chronic fatigue. She talks about the exhaustion she felt after doing some day-to-day things — especially after the birth of her third child. One example she provides is how tired she would feel after brushing her hair.

She went to her doctor and was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Through the help of her doctor, Bream followed a specific regimen to improve her symptoms and find relief.

She lists some possible reasons why you would be feeling extreme fatigue:

If you are experiencing extreme fatigue, you should examine some of these possible culprits:
• Lack of sleep
• Stress
• Inadequate exercise
• Weakened immune system
• Nutritional deficiencies
• Blood sugar highs and lows
• Dehydration
• Parasites or yeast overgrowth
• Hormone Imbalances
• Food sensitivities
• Environmental Toxins

What I really appreciate about Bream’s book is that she offers natural solutions and remedies instead of pushing some of the techniques that we are finding are more and more toxic to our bodies. She provides a great overview of the diets we should follow, our need for water and exercise, and tips on how to manage stress and get enough sleep.
