Essential Oils to Boost Your Mood

Essential Oils to Boost Your Mood

Winter is that time of year that is both exciting (Christmas! New Years!) and draining (so cold! no sunshine!). With the dreary days that winter can bring, our moods can quickly diminish. It’s easy to feel down in the pits when you can’t get outside to enjoy sun and warmth. In fact, Seasonal Affective Disorder is a real problem. Last fall, I fell into what I think was either Post-Partum Depression or SAD. Luckily, I had a friend who offered me some essential oils to help me boost my mood without other medications. They helped immensely.

Now, I sell my own oils with Simply Aroma, and I’ve learned even more about essential oils and their benefits. These are a few of my favorites that I have on hand, are produced by Simply Aroma, and have proven their benefits.

Ylang Ylang – Ylang Ylang is great for relaxation as well as energizing the body and mind. It’s known for elevating passion, too! Bowchicka wow wow!

Wild Orange – One of my favorite oils because it is so diverse, I use it to clean my counters or freshen up my kitchen sink. But simply smelling Wild Orange can truly boost your mood. It’s also known for helping support your alertness and mental clarity.

Walk the Lime – I love this oil so much that I took the time to sing about it. You should watch it below. But, Walk the Lime is another citrus oil that lifts your mood and relieves fatigue!

Peel – Oh my, bakery in a bottle. Honestly, Peel is my new favorite blend. It is a blend of citrus oils and vanilla extract. Safe enough for me to use now while pregnant, I have put it in my deodorant. With the blend of citrus oils in it, my attitude stays positive, and I smell good.

Relaxation – Relaxation was one of our first 13 oils when Simply Aroma first launched.

Lavender – Lavender is another multi-use oil. Not only can it help calm your nerves, it can also soothe a burn, stop the itch of a bug bite, and reduce scarring with an injury. Lavender is a great oil for “beginners.” Because you can use it on children (use a carrier oil any time you use oils on children) and because it helps with relaxation and stress-relief, it’s awesome for this time of year and the potential of bad attitudes.

Tea Tree – Tea Tree has so many properties for healing that it’s ridiculous. Using Tea Tree when you are ill can help boost your immune system and get you well faster. It’s known for fighting infection. It’s also safe to use (with carrier!) on children to help with diaper rash or boo-boos.

Bergamot – Bergamot is another citrus oil. I was first introduced to it after Flash when I was feeling so low. It has a glorious scent, and it is helpful for mood, anxiety, and depression.

  1. Many of them sound great, thank you for sharing!
How do you use it for drawers? Drop some oil on a tissue and leave the tissue in the drawer?

    1. You can do that. You can also use a cotton ball as Rabia suggested in her comment. You can ALSO take a small glass container (like a small canning jar), put baking soda and EOs in, and then cover with a piece of fabric – it becomes like a room deodorizer!

  2. Your videos are awesome!! Simply Aroma should be paying you the big bucks! I’ve been using Centre for on myself and my daughter. She has attention issues, but she says her morning back rub is helping. I put a few drops of Centre in a tiny bit of olive oil and massage it into her back. It’s a big location to help with absorption and back rubs are always a great way to start the day. I end up with it all over my hands, so it’s helping me stay focused throughout the day as well.
