Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics
Years ago, I learned about the importance of gut health. This isn’t something that is just part of health class or conversations with Mom. I’m not sure I really understood the purpose of gut health and probiotics until I was somewhere in college. It wasn’t until I was even older with children that I began to utilize them!
Fast-forward a few years, and I began learning about how to not buy products with junk and artificial flavors. I was learning about GMOs and what that means and how riddled our food and household products are with chemicals.
It’s a scary world to consider how products have changed. My mom swears that when we were growing up, there weren’t this many problems with the products she was buying for her family. Now that I have my own family and four minions to raise, I want to always do my best to only offer the cleanest products I can.
That’s why I’m happy that products like Dr. Ohhira’s probiotics exist.
Dr. Ohhira’s difference
I jumped at the opportunity to try Dr. Ohhira’s probiotics because of the list of awesomeness (or lack of junkiness!):
- 100% vegetarian
- Dairy Free
- Gluten Free
- Chemical Free
- Non-GMO
These probiotics are live cultures, and I’m totally pumped that they are not required to be refrigerated. Sounds like a crazy thing to be excited about. But if I didn’t have them sitting on the counter staring at me, I’d likely forget to take them.
My experience
I took the Dr. Ohhira’s probiotics for two weeks as instructed (1 capsule 2x a day on an empty stomach). Most days I really did remember to take them ahead or well after a meal. Some days I forgot and just took as soon as I could and hoped it was enough ahead of the meal.
What I noticed was less bloating and an altogether better gut feeling.
I haven’t had a gall bladder since 2003, and that has left me with digestion issues. Because my liver and pancreas have to work overtime to handle the bile my body produces, I find that specific foods (especially greasy or fatty foods) will cause me to feel sick.
While taking Dr. Ohhira’s probiotics, I noticed that while I did feel not-so-great after any moment where I made the bad decision to have the not-good-for-me foods, the sick sensation was no where near as awful as it had been prior.
