DIY No Sew Shopping Bag
When our Blog with Friends group was trying to decide what topic to use for April, we threw around a few ideas. We finally settled on Earth Day, and I was super excited to do something that would let me upcycle or recycle items in the house. I love being challenged a little by projects.
I asked Miss Sassy Pants for her input, and she declared: Let’s make the shopping bags we made in Girl Scouts. Done.
We present you with the ever easy DIY No Sew Shopping Bag:
For this project, you need:
Old T-shirts (the number depends on how many bags you want)
Scissors
That’s it! How much more simple could it get?
First, cut the collar and sleeves off the t-shirt.
Then, cut 1 inch wide (you can eye it) strips at the bottom of the shirt. You’re sort of making a fringe. They should be between 2 and 3 inch long cuts.
Next, tie the front and back fringe pieces together for each matching fringe.
And voila! You have a shopping bag for the next time you’re getting groceries. You don’t need the plastic baggies when you have a slew of t-shirt bags!
How easy is that!? So easy a 10 year old can do it without the help of her mom.
Now, be sure to check out the projects from my buddies. And be sure to link up your Earth Day themed project below!
What better way to celebrate Earth Day than with a delicious Celebration Dessert Pizza. Karen from Baking in a Tornado not only provides the recipe for this beautiful treat but also talks about the frustration she found in deciding how to make something edible that applied to Earth Day. I love Karen’s blog because she always finds a way to apply food to whatever story she’s telling.
And who doesn’t love finding a way to stretch a dollar or two? Stretching that dollar, in effect, helps the Earth by using up fewer resources. Jennifer over at Sparkly Jenn has some tips for us about how to “Stretch the Cluck.” So many uses for chicken in one amazing blog post!
Robin from Someone Else’s Genius is so talented at making jewelry. I love her April Earth Day post featuring a tutorial for a Nature Beaded Bracelet. Robin makes it look so easy that I think I’ll have to open up the craft closet and get jewelry crafting again very soon!
What a great idea!!! Love it!!! We have tons of old t-shirts taking up space, now I know what to do with them!! 😀

OMG, even I could do it. I not only love the idea and the execution, but that kids can do it too. Perfect way to start teaching them about Earth Day.
What a brilliant idea! I have all kinds of shirts I get rid of when I tire of them or have to many. No more buying grocery sags at Aldi’s.
So easy!!
So easy! That’s awesome!!! I wonder if some bigger T-shirts would work for our Sam’s Club trips.
I have never seen this before but I love this simple crafty idea!
I have quite a few old shirts lying around that I can put to good use besides dust rags now:)
That’s awesome!! My kids would love doing that! It’s a great way to upcycle some t-shirts we never wear, but still want to keep!
