Chuao Chocolate: Tasty and Fun
When I received an email asking if I’d like to write a review for some chocolate, I don’t think my fingers could move fast enough to type, YES! Then, I waited patiently for the package to arrive. When it did, I was treated to four very tasty chocolate bars from Chuao (pronounced CHEW-WOW) Chocolatier. (I don’t have any pictures of the actual bars we received because we ate them too quickly.)
The four bars my family had a chance to try were the Sweet & Salty bar, the Pretzel Toffee Twirl bar, the Potato Chip bar, and the Firecracker bar. Of the four, two were dark chocolate. This is not my favorite type of chocolate to eat (bring me the milk chocolate, please), but I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed these particular bars.
The Sweet & Salty bar is exactly what it sounds like. It is a mix of milk chocolate and sea salt. This was my absolute favorite as it had just the right mix of that sweet and salty combination.
I also loved the Pretzel Toffee Twirl even though it is a dark chocolate bar. I’m already a sucker for pretzels and chocolate, and this bar did the combination justice. I had to fight Miss Sassy Pants off for this one.
The Potato Chip bar is another milk chocolate bar mixed with — exactly as the name states — potato chips. Aaron and I agreed that these had just the right amount of crunch in them to make them tasty. This bar didn’t last long at all.
The last bar to be consumed — and the one that took the longest — was the Firecracker bar. Miss Sassy Pants actually tried it first. Because it has chipotle in it, she was a little nervous and therefore hesitant as she took her very small bite. She told me it tasted great. Later, when I sat down to try it, I took a much larger chunk. I hadn’t fully read the description and missed the part about it having pop candy in it! Imagine my reaction when my mouth and tongue started sizzling.
Before you get too worried, the Firecracker bar isn’t too hot. It has just the right mix of spicy and pop! The name, Firecracker, suits it perfectly. Miss Sassy Pants swears that she knew there was pop candy in it and laughed at me for not realizing.
But what do I mostly appreciate about Chuao Chocolate? It has no hydrogenated fats, no artificial preservatives, no artificial colors or flavors, and no artificial sweeteners. And for those of you who are searching for gluten free, this is the chocolate for you.

I love the popcorn pop bar, which has the same popping effect as the Firecracker. I need to get a hold of the firecracker bar for my brothers. I think they’d love it!
