Blessings: Writing (Day 14)

Blessings: Writing (Day 14)

Verse to ponder: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.  James 1:17

For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to be a published author. As I child, I wrote story after story and (pitifully) illustrated them. In college, I was lucky to take an Independent Study and have some major help from my professors with my many stories and poems for children.

I shelved that collection, had some kids, got really busy, and then suddenly remembered that I had this pretty great collection when Miss Sassy Pants found it. She asked me to read to her, and thus A Day to Remember became more than just this story I wrote in college.

a day to remember

Writing is an outlet for me. The blog is an obvious example. I also write in journals for each of my children, keep a rarely updated but still updated journal of my own, write blog posts for various other spots, and make list after list after list (yes, people, that still counts as writing).

Getting my thoughts out on paper or computer screen is therapeutic for me. There have been several blog posts that have been written yet never published just so I can have that catharsis.

Writing – and the ability to do so quickly and with, what I hope others consider, talent – is truly a blessing for me.
