Baked Hamburgers: Stupid Easy

Baked Hamburgers: Stupid Easy

I think I have to start a new category of STUPID EASY recipes. Because, if you’re like me, you don’t want difficult recipes that take hours. You want stupid easy recipes that you can do without thinking and that won’t a) break the bank or b) take too much time!

So, I must share with you what I made our little family for dinner last night: Baked Hamburgers.

I first heard of Baked Hamburgers from my mother-in-law. I raised my eyebrow at her when she told me what she was making. But, because basically everything she cooks is delish, I was open-minded.

One reason I like Baked Hamburgers is because you can put them together at almost a moment’s notice. I buy hamburger in larger quantities sometimes, and I end up freezing it for future recipes. Unfortunately, defrosting hamburger meat to make into patties isn’t the easiest. Enter, the Baked Hamburger.

Baked Hamburger

What you’ll need:

1 lb of browned hamburger meat

pack of 8 hamburger buns

1 small onion

ketchup, mustard, worcestershire sauce, sugar

butter

toothpicks (plain are better than colored)

cheese (optional)

How you’ll do it:

1. Line your 8 hamburger bun bottoms up on your cookie sheet.

2. Carefully pile meat onto each bun.

3. Chop your onion. I prefer mine finely diced.

4. Mix the ketchup, mustard, worcestershire sauce, and sugar. (I know you’re thinking that I didn’t give you amounts. The ketchup and mustard should be equal parts. Just a dash of the worcestershire and about 1/2 tsp to a tsp of sugar.)

5. Spread the sauce over each burger.

6. Place onions on each.

Baked Hamburger Toppings

7. Butter each top half of the bun and place on top of each burger.

8. Use a toothpick to hold each one together.

9. Bake for about 10 minutes at 350. (The top will be nicely toasted.)

Baked Hamburger Final

See? EASY!

Miss Sassy Pants and I added shredded cheese to ours last night. That was tasty. Aaron stayed traditional.

I also recommend the plain toothpicks as the colored toothpicks leave a green or red or blue spot on your bun — and that can be weird.

Enjoy!
