Simple (Yet Guilty) Pleasures
It doesn’t take much to make me feel like I’m living the good life. Never much of a party-goer or bar-hopper, I find myself happy with the simplest pleasures.
Not a shocker, but I love anything sweet. Brownies, cookies, cake, ice cream, candy — you bake it, and I’ll probably eat it. This past week, I’ve been resting after surgery. My go-to guilty pleasure has been brownies with ice cream. It’s absolutely not helping my waist line, but it tastes oh-so-good.
In the past year, I’ve probably read a total of six novels. Three of those have been in the last month. One of my favorites of the three that I read is a new novel by Chevy Stevens called That Night. Based on the story of a girl who was wrongfully imprisoned for the murder of her younger sister, this novel had me on pins and needles wanting to know what happened next and who was truly at fault. It kept my attention, and kept me coming back for more. I even found myself reading on the floor of my bedroom while my kids played around me. (You can get your own copy on June 17!)
And speaking of my kids — they are probably the most pleasurable part of my life. They bring me such joy and happiness just watching them (they also make me a little crazy, but I love them!). Right now, Miss Sassy Pants has decided she wants to be a professional basketball player, the Animal is obsessed with the calculator (“Let’s do plus, minus, and equals!”), and Flash wants to vacuum the house. These three bring such smiles to my face and heart.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Disclaimer: I did receive a free copy of That Night as a member of House Party’s Chatterbox. I was under no obligation to write a blog post, and these opinions are 100% my own.

I made brownies for Frances’ 4th grade promotion ceremony last night. I kept 6 of them at home for myself! Shhhhh!!
