Mamavation Monday: Focusing on Health
Happy Mamavation Monday! This past week was one of several challenges for me. I hope you had a great week, and Happy late Father’s Day to all the dads out there.
This past week, I participated in a Shakeology 7 day Challenge. The first couple of days were a bit of a struggle as I figured out which version of the shake I liked best. I knew I had to go with chocolate since fruity shakes gross me out. I tried the first day with chocolate and peanut butter — pretty good. The second day I mixed in strawberries – yuck (for me). I know plenty of others in the challenge group enjoyed the fruity flavors, but I figured out (finally) by day 4 that I really just liked it plain.
The shakes really did fill me up for my breakfast, and then I spent the rest of the day being very conscious about what I was eating. Most days, I still had calories left to use, and this is where I’d love to find some help eventually. I’m not so great at setting my own eating menu to keep myself healthy. I can help my kids pretty well, but I always let myself go.
As a family, we have stayed rather busy. Miss Sassy Pants had two long rehearsals for dance leading up to her recital on Saturday. Flash had two specialists visits for some small issues we will have to deal with. And the Animal had to go back to two naps a day because of his awful attitude!
This next week, things will calm down as we will have nothing going on at night and can just have dinner together without the rush! This will mean we can do a little more focusing on eating healthy and just being healthy.
Let’s talk victories!
Non-Scale Victories
- I have not consumed any type of dessert in a week. That is HUGE. Usually, I would have about a dozen cookies throughout the day (if they’re there, I must eat them) or a bowl of ice cream before bed. Instead, I focused on having something that was healthy — like a piece of fruit or a glass of water.
- I kept up with my #64ozchallenge and drank over 64 oz of water every day. My energy levels have been great.
- We cleaned so much trash out of this house! It feels great to see it all go away.
- My book published! I now have copies in my hands, and people can purchase at Booklocker, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Books A Million. Wow!
Scale Victories
- This week, I lost 2 lbs. That takes me down to a total of 30 pounds lost since giving birth. That also means that I’m only 9 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight!!!
As I continue on, I’d like to ask for your support. I’ve applied to be one of the next Mamavation Moms, and I need you to help show that I have a community to support me. You can do that by tweeting the following message.
